Trouble in Flubville is a cute 2D puzzle platformer in which the player teams up with adorable aliens to overcome obstacles in their path. Manny, an intrepid astronaut, has crash-landed his ship on a backwater planet inhabited by lovable little creatures called flubs! The player helps him find the pieces of his broken space ship and take off once again.

ORIGINAL GAME

The original conception of Trouble in Flubville looked nothing like the game of today. At the time, I was enamored with games that acknowledged they were a game. I wanted gameplay that would make use of the very standards of games themselves. So, I devised a system in which the pause menu was a core mechanic.

The idea was as follows: players could pause a cutscene, rearrange the scene, and change the outcome to favor their needs. This would also provide them a direct method of interaction with their character. Unfortunately, tech quickly discovered the mechanic wasn't feasible for their resources. I loved the idea, but was responsible enough to shelf it.
